|WHY THIS FUNDRAISER IS IMPORTANT
There is a growing population of elders whose safety and well-being are at risk. They live alone, are socially isolated and need of some type of assistance to maintain their safety and independence. These at-risk older adults have little or no support systems, such as family or friends, to act on their behalf as they begin to experience difficulties.
Without intervention, the following critical situations exist for our community’s elders:
- Loss of health and independence
- Premature institutionalization
- Hospitalizations and re-admissions
- Elder abuse and neglect
Due to increasing numbers of people aging, coupled with inadequate and decreasing resources for our elderly population; there is a rapidly growing need for support and care for these individuals who are lost, lonely, hurting and at risk.
How your support will address this growing concern:
ShiningCare’s programs have proven to be successful in preventing the above critical situations and help keep at-risk elders safe.
We had a 57% increase in referrals and cases in 2019. The need for this program has exceeded our limited funding, and we are asking the community to partner with us in our efforts.
ShiningCare, Inc. (AKA Compass ShiningCare) is a local non-profit established in 2009 with a vision and mission to meet the unmet needs of at-risk elderly, disabled adults and their loved ones.
